FURNISHING THE STUDIO OFFICE WITH ALLERMUIR HOME
This post is a paid partnership with Allermuir Home
So at the end of the first lockdown in 2020, I decided (well, we - my partner Hugh and I) to get some studio space to help separate both of our work-from-home lives from our, well, home lives.
It’s totally transformed my relationship with work, and means that I can take on so much more, so in spite of it being an extra expense to fork out for, I’m so happy we did it.
I’ve completed a few projects around the studio so far, but I’m not quite ready to show you the whole space yet. However, I did want to share with you a few bits of furniture I’m using for the space from a company called Allermuir Home.
Allermuir has traditionally only been available to trade customers up to this point, but with 2020’s shift to many of us working from home, they launched Allermuir Home so that everybody could make use of their designs.
For the studio, I had a specific piece of furniture in mind – the look of open-shelving, but combining an occasional desk - so when I spotted just the thing on their site, I was super keen to work with them.
I opted for the Crate Compact desk with upstand and shelving in a mix of Sand and Walnut. The steel frame is powder-coated in a beautiful beige finish, very on brand with inset shelving, a desk and an upstand at the back all in the walnut. It’s a super comfortable size for one person to use, and while I’ve used it as a way to carve up the space as the studio is quite large, it’s perfect for slotting into an alcove and can be securely fixed to the wall.
I teamed it with the Kin Chair, designed by PearsonLloyd, in all black - a sleek plastic chair with wooden legs to give it just that edge of luxury.
A nice little set up and I’ve enjoyed working at it for a couple of weeks now.
Alongside these pieces, Allermuir sent me the Tub. What is the Tub I hear you ask? Well it’s a beaut piece of multi-functional furniture which can act as a plant stand, decoration, side table, storage, whatever you want really.
I’m still furnishing the rest of my office, so I’m not entirely sure where I’m going to use it yet, but it’s definitely a handy piece to have around. The possibilities with it are wide and open, so stay tuned.
Alllermuir Home have a great range of desks, storage, seating and more for you to explore, so head over to their website if you’re looking to upgrade your WFH situation.
