I WANT THESE TOM DIXON 'FAT' CHAIRS REAL BAD

Now, don’t get me wrong, I like my current dining chairs - I got them from a vintage shop, £100 for all four, before painting them black, and I was even thinking about changing the seat fabric to something a little more inspiring. But, I feel they may have been of dubious quality as this happened to one of them during an energetic party game when we had friends over for Christmas..

So now I have to decide whether I live with just three chairs (no good), try to fix this one (which as you can see is far from a clean break) or find something new. Cue a newsletter from Tom Dixon popping into my inbox with their new ‘Fat’ chairs.

In my last blog post, I talked a little about the curved shapes that are dominating interior trends at the moment, but anything being a little playful with shape always seems to come in an out-there colour too. Tom Dixon’s studio has got its own design aesthetic however, and I’d say that usually it falls a little more on my side of the divide. But if you are more colour inclined, I spotted the same chairs in bright blue and pink on the Tom Dixon Instagram page.

So yep, I’m pretty much in love with these - the dining chair in particular. The shaping of the upholstery is really fresh, and I love the contrast of fabric’s texture with the high gloss metal. They look super comfy too, and the curved backrest looks like it would literally hug you. A comfy dining chair is so important, especially if you love entertaining, or else everyone will be scrambling to leave the table as soon as they’ve finished eating.

Okay, so they’re a bit of my price range at the moment, so may not be a realistic replacement for my three-legged chair woes right now, but something to work towards?
